AWR Wrestling Show Limerick 2011

Time Ticks On.
I know it has been a few months now since the AWR wrestling show in Limerick City. The show took place back in October. But I wanted to wright about the experience as well so the blog would live online.

My name is Danny Harrington. I'm 24 years old and I have only very recently been to my first in house wrestling event in Limerick city in the UL arena. Let me tell you it's an experience I  had to share with the world.

Meet and Great.
I was so excited about the event its self but I actually didn’t know how excited I was going to be until I walked in and the meet and great was right there. The line was really short. It did not take very long for the line to move either. I got myself a few autographs. As you may have picked up already it was an exciting experience for me.

The Only Downside.
The only downside to the entire event that I could see was this whole "PG rating" that seems to be in wrestling these days. Now don't get me wrong, I understand that there has to be a "PG rating" these days, there are more kids watching the WWE and other respective wrestling associations did in fact make a good move targeting the "Children’s Market". They needed a new influx of fans etc etc. But it kinda takes away from the experience of a live show.

The very first two or three matches felt like they where just going through the paces doing the routine for the show. It could have been a little bit more impact-full.

The Video.
I put together a video of pictures and footage I got at the event. If you are interested in knowing more about my time at AWR in Limerick take a look at the video blow.

Social Twitter Savings

Nowadays everyone is looking to try save that little bit more. That €20 you had to spare this time 2 to 3 years ago is not exactly spare any more. In fact it might mean the difference between paying off a gas or electric bill these days. So, as we all know, every little bit counts.

Finding something to cut is not easy once all the obvious options are gone. (Obvious being downgrading your SKY TV package cause you realise how much you don't watch all them moves they keep showing again and again.) But recently I have found one place in my life where I can get one more little saving.

Since I started trying to cut unnecessary spending out of my life I noticed my mobile phone.

  1. I am on pays as you go with Meteor.
  2. I am currently signed up to “Any Network Text.”
Once a month I have to put €20 credit on my phone if I want to continue to get free text to any network and I already had €25 credit on my mobile. I did not want to end up with €45 on my phone just for the sake of getting free text to any network. Almost all of the communicating I do is over social networks.

I only text one person on a daily basis and that person was in the same boat as me when it came to trying to save money. So here is a solution I came up with.

Use Twitter messages. I was already spending 69c to access the internet everyday so it made sense to use this service instead of texting. It would normaly cost 12c to text someone. But Twitter messaging cost nothing. Also if you go to Twitter mobile from within your Twitter account settings you can set it up so you get a text message to your phone when ever you get a direct message on Twitter. So you still get alerted that you got a message.

If you do find yourself needing to send the odd text message you do still have credit on your phone. You also have 300 any network text from Meteor on-line. Don't forget about those.

Why not use Facebook?
You could use Facebook and I am sure there are a lot of other services out there that you could adopt this idea for. But I use Twitter a lot and find it to the the best for this. ( After all Twitter is sometimes describes as "the SMS ofthe Internet.")

I realise that this will only be helpful to a hand full of people and it will only save you a small bit of money in the long run. But that €20 the one month you don't top up could make a lot of difference.
